The bus with the drop-down train wheels I understand, but what was the deal with the car driving down the train tracks in the Florida Keys? Is that what people really did before the highway was built? (That is, if they didn't want to wait for the daily train.) This was a fun and festive episode of Chevy Leader News.

Adelaide has a similar bus-train service which has operated successfully for more than 20 years. The line runs from the City centere to a Town which is 15 miles away. I have read reports of similar services in Germany and elsewhere and read ,a few days ago, that a line is going to be built in the USA.

Not exactly the same thing, but Knott's Berry Farm has a truck which was converted into a train engine. It looks very odd, with its train-like features and 1950s truck snout. I don't believe they run it anymore; it was just something the Knott family bought because they thought it was nifty. It sits in the back 40 of the amusement park, and you can see it as you ride the steam train.

The bus/train idea is pretty nifty, but I can't imagine it was all that easy to line up the wheels so they dropped right onto the track.

As far as the other "story" about the car on the Florida Keys track, I imagine that was just Chevrolet showing off their suspension system, as they did in a couple other films in the archive.
